Citi just launched a 20% transfer bonus when moving ThankYou points to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, running from July 19 through August 22, 2026.
Instead of the standard 1:1 ratio, every 1,000 Citi points turns into 1,200 Flying Blue miles. The bonus is automatically calculated on Citi’s portal, transfers are usually instant, and you can use the offer as many times as you like.
Is It Worth Transferring?
If you travel across the Atlantic regularly, Flying Blue is easily one of the most useful SkyTeam programs out there.
Why Flying Blue Miles Are Valuable
- Better Award Access: Air France and KLM release way more saver award seats to their own Flying Blue members than they do to partner programs like Delta.
- Lower Redemption Costs: Compared to Delta’s massive SkyMiles award prices, Flying Blue consistently offers much lower mileage rates for transatlantic Business Class (like Air France’s A350 or KLM’s 777).
- Perks for Elites: If you hold Flying Blue Platinum status, you unlock access to even more expanded award availability.
Should You Do It?
- Transfer if you have upcoming travel: If you plan to fly to Europe or connect through Paris/Amsterdam in the next 6 to 12 months, this 20% boost gives you incredible value.
- Be strategic with speculative transfers: As a rule of thumb, locking up flexible bank points into a single airline currency without a specific trip in mind isn’t ideal. However, since Flying Blue is a core partner across almost all major point programs and Citi only runs this specific bonus about once a year, topping off your Flying Blue balance here makes a lot of practical sense.
